When people began to hear about the virus when it first started, people didn’t think much of it. Once it began to spread, that is when they began to panic. They began to go to big stores such as: Costco, Save-mart, Food Max, etc. In the beginning, they only bought food and handsanitizer, but then they began to buy toilet paper and water. People would go wild and buy more than one item, and most people wouldn’t get the chance to buy anything. There have also been post all over social media where old citizens were grocery shopping, but there wasn’t anything left for them to buy. However, these post haven’t changed a thing because people are still taking more than one essential item. Working as a sales associate has given me a front row seat of how inconsiderate/ selfish people are. Many people would begin to buy baby wipes when there wasn’t any toilet paper, and this left many parents without wipes to clean their babies. Just imagine looking desperately for baby wipes, but there wasn’t any because other people took it for their own use. Then there are many people who walk in talking about how they lost their job, and they don’t have any money to buy groceries. Listening to all these peoples hardships has taught me to be more considerate towards others. I also learned to been more cautious, this virus has expand throughout the world because no precautions were taken to avoid the spread. They did not wash their hands after interacting with people or after touching other things people touched. However, the most important lesson learned was to save money. It is important to save money just in case another pandemic were to happen. Imagine being laid off due to a virus, and you had no money left to shop for essential products. Now there isn’t anything the government could do to avoid this because viruses can always find their way around to expand.
Carla,
I agree with you 100%. After the outbreak, many people rushed to stores and bought excessive amounts of items and left none for others. I’m pretty sure it’s hard for you as well since you are considered an “essential worker”. You have to deal with these people every day and also have to go to the extent to add limits on items. I hope you’re trying your best to keep safe because it’s dangerous to be outside at this time, especially with the peak of the virus being around the corner. I have also learned the same lessons as you. There is so much to learn about in these times of hardship. I’m happy for you for still having a job, but make sure to stay safe out there. Thank you for your work!

Carla, I found your blog post very interesting and relatable. During all of this chaos, I have also learned how people can become inconsiderate when they begin to panic. I am not a sales associate, but I can only imagine how sad it is to hear how people are immensely impacted by Covid -19. My sister has a one-year-old and it’s hard for her to find items like baby wipes. It’s sad to see how during a pandemic, people don’t even think about the other families that may also need those essentials. I think if we all just continued to buy what we needed and not excessive amounts this would not be a problem. I enjoyed reading your blog and hearing your point of view. I’m looking forward to your next blog post!
